I know you want to make these (and I call dibs on making them for Christy when the baby comes). Anywhoo. I'm way too excited about these so I have to share.
Khaki's version of the Church luncheon ham and cheese rolls
Parker House Rolls (the Sister Schubert rolls in a pan; I used Publix brand)
thinly sliced deli turkey (about 1/4 pound)
thinly sliced white cheddar (I just sliced off a block until I had enough, maybe 5-6 slices?)
3 tsp stone ground mustard (any non-yellow mustard would work)
1/2 stick butter, melted
Slightly thaw rolls. Slice still-attached rolls horizontally while still a little frozen then let thaw a little more. (The top part of my rolls fell apart but it didn't matter in the end.) Place cheese, then turkey to the edge on bottom half of rolls. Put top back on rolls and then put the entire thing/creation in the roll pan. Mix the melted butter and mustard and pour/spread on top of rolls. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until tops of rolls are brown. Gain 5 pounds immediately when you eat half the pan yourself while standing at the stove. Serve with a salad to make a full meal. The end.

David and I are drooling over this one! He's on the stupid South Beach diet (stupid because I'm on the breastfeeding diet and these two don't mesh well) but I'm cooking these bad boys anyways. I'll make some kind of rolled up turkey deal for him and just smile across the table while I eat my yumminess. We'll see how strong his will is..evil laugh hehehe..
Mandy-These are super rich. I felt kind of ill after eating a lot and then felt the same kind of ill after eating only 2. Maybe cut down on the butter? I think the sister schubert rolls are just (un)naturally rich so maybe that's it? Or maybe if I weren't such a glutton and didn't eat almost the whole pan myself?
I got a few of these from Caty---they were delicious---melted in my mouth!
Caty, I ended up cooking them at my mom's house using less butter and spicy brown mustard. Somehow the bottom got soggy and I think my turkey was sliced too thin but they were still good. I do agree maybe one or two are plenty, but I had 3 times that many and then ate the rest for breakfast. Maybe too rich for the dinner rotation, but I may have to try it one more time with leftover Thanksgiving turkey just to be sure ;)
